Wow, call me a freak but even though this as caused so much havoc on the area, I can’t help but love the beauty this snow and ice is giving us today.

I drove out at lunch today and the sun hitting the ice on the trees is just causing an image of beauty.  I honestly wish I could be off work to snap some photos.  What great shots!  Jacob, I hope you are getting some photos for your web page.

I am hearing rumors of even more snow and I’m pretty sure it will bury the city at this point.  We won’t survive with any more snow.  At least it won’t be ice (I hope!).  We’re hoping to play a little this weekend unless it’s too wet, but I haven’t been out in it yet due to work.  We need to crunch around in it for a bit and explore the woods for fun.  Noah wants to check out things since we haven’t had a chance to play together.  All we’ve really did so far is eat icicles.

Oh well, it’s a gorgeous day for those that don’t have power so at least you can open your windows and get some sun.  I know its not much, but you can eliminate some doom and gloom.  Hang in there and I hope it gets better for you guys soon.  I got the phone and Internet back on last night.  Pretty quick actually, I was surprised.

Yes, I’m the girl with the hundred acre forest in her backyard.  Yep, I have all the lovely 100 year old trees that I love, but man this morning they were “Snow White Forest” scary.  They were cracking and breaking off and all I could think about was that I was going to come home with a huge tree limb in my living room or bedroom window.

The newscasters kept talking about trees falling on houses and causing them to burn down.  It was freaking me out.  Yes, I have insurance and I know things can be replaced but all I could imagine was my kitties just homeless, in the cold due to a tree in the middle of my house.

I did go home and it was worse, my back yard looks like a war zone and I did have a limb fall on my roof but it fell gently from what I can tell so I’m thinking we can move it pretty easily.  I have no Internet or phone yet, but I guess it’s better than no heat!  We do have TV and that is a blessing for Noah.

All in all I have not had it bad and I love the beauty of it all.  Driving yesterday wasn’t bad at all for me and my Jeep did great.  Didn’t slide once!  Guess I’ll be pickin’ up sticks real soon, once the big thaw comes through.  Maybe they’ll just float away!  I hope everyone is some place warm and dry and they are doing well.

It’s all pretty in the first picture, but the 2nd is deadly.  I’m all watching “The Mentalist” just enjoying my night at home, warm in my house, on the couch and then Jacob calls.  “Do you have electric?”, he asked, “Mine is starting to flicker.”  As if cursed by his call my cable goes out as we are speaking.

No more mentalist and I can’t get the basic channels.  I can still get some cable channels, but no Mentalist.  What a bummer.  We are assuming the ice is freezing the lines and taking it’s toll on the cables.

Ice can be more deadly than snow, we all know this!  It more dangerous to drive on, it can cause more issues with trees, cars, cable lines. roofs and other items.  Be careful and I guess I’m going to be missing the Mentalist.

I still think Jacob cursed me! ha ha

Jacob sent me this today and I had to share, it cracked me up! I just laugh every time I read it. Thanks Jacob for making my day!

1. Snowtard 3 thumbs uplove ithate it

n. Snowtard, v. Snowtarded, adj. Snowtarded pejorative.

A snowtard is a driver who, when introduced to a snowy/icy environment will act entirely inappropriately.
There are many ways in which you can express your self as a snowtard, some are more dangerous than others.
The most common and harmless snowtard is one who simply avoids leaving his or her house at the sight of snow, he or she is most likely to become a problem when calling you and either flaking out on previous plans or asking you for help in the form of transportation.
Another type of snowtard is considerably more visible, this is the moron you’ll see spinning his or her tires for the sole purpose of destroying them. This type rarely goes very far and will often abandon their vehicle in the middle of the most heavily used arterial road because of a flat tire which he or she probably can’t even change.
The final type of snowtard that I will be explaining today is the maverick type; this moron has a fairly decent vehicle equipped with AWD, traction control, snow tires, etc. and has come to the conclusion that they are completely invincible to snow. You will notice this person getting as close as possible to your rear bumper honking and beaming their 10,000 watt xenon lights into your car like a f’ing UFO, when they finally get over the superiority of showing you how slow they think you are they will pass you and proceeded to go twice the speed limit. You will later find their car upside-down in a nearby ditch as the maverick snowtard doesn’t understand the new difficulty created by the snow.

“Jesus, look at the sparks coming off that guy’s chains, he must be snowtarded”

If you have children, make sure you create your controls on your TV so they cannot watch this show.

Can you imagine what this show will be like?  It states they will follow him through the summer and assist him with therapy and his love life?  Maybe they’ll help him realize he is in love with Tony Romo and he can get past it before the next season.

All I know, is young children, male and female should not watch this show.  Keep your children away from VH1 this summer and for heaven’s sake don’t watch it yourself either.  Let’s not let them think we give a dang about T.O.’s life either.

It’s bad enough that it’s a show about a Dallas Cowboy, but seriously do we care about this guys life, as much as we’ve already heard?

What has become of the NFL and reality TV?

trial

OK, so he just doesn’t show up for his own impeachment trial and instead goes on his own little talk-show circuit??

This man is just cracking me up.  Quote, “I’m standing for a much bigger principle,” Blagojevich told NBC’s TODAY show. “I’m telling them, ‘If you want to throw me out of office then I’d be willing to sacrifice myself for the principle that everyone is entitled to a fair trial in America.  I’m here in New York because I can’t get a fair hearing in Illinois,” Blagojevich said between TV appearances.

I seriously think this man is off his rocker.  He is now just traveling around New York giving press conferences telling little stories about how they have ruined his life while his trial is going on in Illinois.

Hopefully they will wrap up the trial quickly and stop wasting money on this lunatic.  This is crazy that they can drag this out for weeks on end, when obviously he is just out of his mind.

And the worst part, the press is just eating this up aren’t they?  We have to hear it every time we turn on the TV.  Let’s just move on!

Did you buy your milk and bread?  If not, this is your last chance, and I think its a CODE RED people.  It could be the real thing, we may actually get the white stuff tonight.  I’m good, I have milk and bread (and of course cat food, as that is essential at my house).

It’s amazing the hype that goes on for the snow preparation and I just love to hear all the talk.  Can you make it to work?  What if we don’t make it to work?  Do you have food?  Did you get gas in your car ahead of time?  What about your tires?  Do you have antifreeze in your car?  You’d think we were going to be snowed in for months!

All I know is that I’m prepared so we better see some flakes!  I’m going to look out my window and I’m wanting to see some flakes.  Noah needs to do some major sledding so we need at least one good snow.

Everyone be safe driving and try to stay away from the idiots!  Drive slow and take your time.  If you do get to stay home - have fun playing in the snow!

perfume lotion

Do you ever open a bottle of perfume (or cologne) and all of a sudden you have memories of a time or a person based on that scent?

Scents are something that remind of us of people and trigger thoughts.  Each person has a unique smell.  Houses have smells when you enter them, and we associate smells to people and sometimes memories.  I know there is one cologne that is completely my dad.  Whenever I smell it I immediately think of my dad.

Last night I found a bottle of lotion in my bathroom that I didn’t remember that I had.  When I opened it to use it I was flooded with memories from another time.  Why, well it was given to me by someone and I had only used it during that time when I was with them.  For some reason I stopped after they were not in my life any longer.  So, you’re standing there and just because of this scent, you are flooded with memories of another time and place.

Strange isn’t it?  Perfumes, lotions, colognes?  They can take you to a memory or another time.  They can remind you of someone, or maybe even a scent of summer.  Everyone loves the smell of suntan lotion.  It takes us to summer, and you long to be outside or at the beach.  It’s a calming, fresh smell that makes you wish winter away.

Scents of memories, very unique how or brain holds on to those scents!

right

From Disney to Murder, my weekend was a little different!  This movie rocked too, but what would you expect with De Niro and Pacino.  I knew this would be good, and I wanted to see it at the movies, but I didn’t get a chance.

This had everything you needed; suspense, secrets, twists, elements of surprise and a great ending.

De Niro and Pacino are awesome together and they have electrifying chemistry on screen together.  Cop movies can be good if played well and this one was played well.

if you pay attention I’m not saying you couldn’t figure it out, but then again, most won’t.  It leads you in a few different directions and you’re just not sure until the end.  It’s a good movie.  If you haven’t watched it yet, you should check it out.

game plan

This was a really good movie and very cute for the family.  I didn’t expected to be as good as it was when I rented it.  I just thought it would be mildly entertaining.

Dwayne Johnson (a.k.a. The Rock) isjust the total package ladies.  He is gorgeous, charming, funny, talented, romantic, and built like a brick…….anyway…..I wonder if he is handy around the house….hhhmmm!

His humor is great throughout this movie and keeps it going for you to stay interested.  For you animal lovers he has a pet bulldog that steals the show too!  It also has the football element that sucked me in too.

Disney did good!  This is a great flick!  It’s very heart warming for families to watch!
