Thanksgiving is now coming to and end; and I hope it was great for all of my friends! I’m sure most of us ate what was close to being a sin, but now it’s time to let the decorating begin! Boxes, crates, tinsel and lights; and when I get done I promise my house will be a beautiful sight! Christmas is coming and the goose is getting fat so I’m getting my house ready to lay down my Welcome Mat! So if you are in the neighborhood, stop by and see the house, all creatures are welcome (well except for a mouse!) - Jake won’t allow it! Happy Holidays!

As Thanksgiving approaches (and we all know it’s just in the way of my decorating, ha ha), it always gives us a time to slow down and reflect back on our past year and give thanks. It’s easy to be thankful for our family, friends, health, and with that we move on to the rest of the year and look forward to a new beginning with the New Year.
This year however, maybe it’s because I’m older, wiser or it’s just been another rough year, but I think you learn to be thankful for things you haven’t always noticed. You see people on different levels; you value their friendships to a different degree, as your loved ones get older being thankful for good health just doesn’t seem enough. All in all, this year I’m thankful for much more things, in much more detail.
- I’m thankful for the love of my parents; not just how they have loved me but for how they have taught me to love.
- I’m thankful for Jerry and how he loves me unconditionally every day, not just some days, but EVERY, SINGLE DAY (have you met me? Not an easy task!)
- I’m thankful that I have sisters and my nieces that rally around me like white on rice. Don’t believe me? Yeah, try something! I’m very lucky to have them.
- I’m thankful for friends in my life. Jacob has taught me that friends can also be as close as family and this year I have added to my family by quite a few and I’m truly blessed.
- I’m thankful to know I have people to turn to in my life. So many people out there do not and it’s a scary place when you have no one to turn to. I’m blessed in this area as well.
- I’m thankful for being able to conquer each day as it comes to me. For some this is difficult and as long as the sun comes up and you still get up – that’s a start. From there you just take one step at a time.
- I’m thankful that I have a place to sleep, a place to keep my family safe and money to put food in their mouths. This is a blessing.
- I’m thankful that I have a place to work every day and as we know this is a blessing for all of us in today’s economy.
- I’m thankful and proud that we have a new President of the United States and that this change will hopefully bring forth unity in areas that have been lacking for so long.
- I’m thankful for the love of my daughter and my grandson and that we can live together and move on to the future and forget the past.
- I’m thankful for the past however, as it teaches us to be stronger in our present.
Now for the good stuff (come on you know I had to put the good stuff in) ha ha
§ I’m thankful that I still have 10 bags of Taco Doritos in my garage safely tucked away for emergency purposes
§ I’m thankful for Edward who has taught me that love, desire and intensity still exist. Go Team Edward
§ I’m thankful that Chicken Nachos and Cheese Sauce exist in this world and I can buy them any time I want!
§ I’m thankful for Netflix – Dang I love this concept and the person that thought of it – pure genius!
§ I’m thankful for the fact that I can get my nails done and my hair colored and vanity is still alive and well today in our society!
§ I’m thankful that this holiday is almost over so I can move into the Christmas season – BRING IT BABY, I’M READY!

Hey Carrie, you know what the day after Thanksgiving means right? We can officially start listening to
Harry again! I LOVE this CD more than any other Christmas CD. From Sleigh Ride through When My Heart Finds Christmas to I Pray on Christmas (can I get an Amen), he just puts me in the mood for the Holidays. I also love the way he sings Ava Maria.
By the way, I think the Pope should pass judgement on who should be able to sing Ava Marie. Heck he passes all kinds of judgements to his “subjects” and this one is important. The wrong person singing this song is just sinful.
Another good Christmas CD is 98 Degrees! Yep, they rock on Christmas Music (They are my NKOTB by the way!). When they sing O Holy Night it is beautiful. That is my favorite spiritual Christmas song. I almost cry anytime I hear a choir or church group sing this song. It’s awesome. I heard a girl sing this song when Kari was in Jr. High and I swear she had an Angel in her soul. I cried like a baby listening to this child sing. The girl could sing and she would have to pick this song. I will never forget her singing this song. It was beautiful.
Well I can’t wait to start listening to my music, a little Harry, a little 98 Degrees and of course a little Bing! Can’t have Christmas without Bing singing White Christmas to me!

FROM

I was flipping channels last night during the football game and I caught the NKOTB singing on the American Music Awards. I was cracking up. Not that they didn’t sound good, but it’s just too funny that they are just back out there doing a “boy band” again. Come on. It’s just not working.
Can’t they go to Vegas and do an act there? This is maybe where they belong now if you ask me. They just looked old on that stage singing their little medley of music to a bunch of screaming fans in the balcony. Now, Kari, don’t get your panties in a bunch as I know you love them, but again, with all the young acts out there now, they just didn’t look too cool! I did say they sounded good! ha ha. Do you think the lunch boxes are coming back - I didn’t get on the first time around!
I’m not sure what is worse, them on stage doing their old songs trying to look “cool” or Guns and Roses coming out with a new album and they are from the 80’s - now that is pathetic! One more old man group standing up on stage trying to look “rocker cool” - how icky is that?
Again, if you think you MIGHT have missed your prime, chances are you have! Leave it to the singers that still got it baby!

Well I broke the “before Thanksgiving rule” and put up my outside decorations this weekend. I have this in my yard by the way. Candy Cane Alley is up by my sidewalk, the puffy penguin is back to coincide with this new puffy Winnie-the-Pooh item and I have my greenery in the window. I have candles on my porch and I also purchased magnets for my garage the spell out Merry Christmas with some trees and lights. I couldn’t help it people, the weather was warm on Sunday so I went for it!
All and all my house is ready for Christmas on the outside. The inside is not decorated at all, no rules broken yet. Although it is clean and sparkly, just waiting for all the items to be placed in all the appropriate places.
I’m excited and ready to decorate - put me in coach - I’m ready!

I had been wanting to rent this movie, as they say it was Vince Vaughn’s coming out movie.
It was a pretty good movie, but again it was one of those “guy movies” in my opinion. Definitely not a chick flick by any means. I also like Jon Favreau who plays the main character who is coming off of a break up (which he initiated the break up, but isn’t handling it very well) and his friends try to help him cope.
They show the life of 4-5 guys living the life in LA and trying to become actors and it shows how they struggle. Jon’s character thinks he wants his girlfriend back, but eventually he learns that he can let go after he finally meets a better girl.
Vince Vaughn is pretty funny and I can see how he got noticed in this film. It’s classic Vince and he is over the top considering this was his first big movie. His theory on dating and women is hilarious.
It’s a pretty good movie, but not great. It’s worth watching if you’ve heard about it, like these guys and want to check them out.

We had to take my dad to the ER the other night. (and why is it that you always end up in the ER late at night?) Anyway, his head was really still hurting and we all met (yes, all of us) at the ER and they did the scan to determine what might be causing his issues.
The good news, they came up with a diagnosis. The bad news, the next day his GP, didn’t agree. What do you do when Doctors clash with a diagnosis? Is this egos clashing and since your the patient in the middle who do you listen to? It’s just your health and your life right, do big deal?
It’s like you want to say, “Excuse me then, do you mind calling the ER Doctor and hashing this around for a bit, it’s just my head we’re dealing with here?” Of course, this leaves all of us pondering who do we listen to and we all have our own opinion so it just causes issues.
In the end, you have to ask a million more questions and then in turn get a third opinion to counter attack the first two that didn’t agree. WHERE IS DOOGIE HOWSER WHEN YOU NEED HIM? He was always right!
Well, we will get to the bottom of this, trust me, there are too many women in our family to just sit by and not do anything. Doctors, UUUGGG, they just get on my nerves!

I love this store and I’m headed there tonight. Actually I’m taking my sister, but it’s not like it bothers me to be going. I normally find myself in the “Beyond” section more than the Bed and Bath. So much more is IN the Beyond that is fun that I can’t help but sway toward this area.
I need some Yankee candles for the Holidays. I don’t normally buy these as you have to mortgage your house to pay for them, but I have saved my coupons
so I can buy a few that I like. I always buy the Misteltoe scent during Christmas because it makes your house smell, well…..just like Christmas.
I also find myself wandering around the picture frames and the unique wine glasses (which by the way I don’t drink wine, what is that about) and the dishes, I LOVE dishes! They also have a great UofL and UK section for unique fan gifts!
So, if you see me at Bed, Bath and Beyond (well I’ll be in the Beyond) just give me a shout out! I’ll be the one with the candles in my cart!
