There was a time, that a man named Joe Kennedy decided that his son would be the President of the United States.  He planned from the time he was born and it was tragic when he lost his son to war.  So, now blinking an eye he prepared his next son, John F. Kennedy Jr. for the job.

John, not even sure if he wanted the position, knew questioning the decision wasn’t an option and the journey began.  It ended with the swearing in of the 35th President of the United States of America.

The US people were nervous at first, electing someone so young, someone inexperienced and Catholic too; they didn’t feel too comfortable about putting a Catholic in office, but low and behold he won America over with his lovely bride and Camelot was born.  It was his style, his ability to talk about one Nation, to pull together as one group, not to see color or ethnic back grounds but to live as one and build a nation as one.  He was a leader among leaders; this inexperienced man and even though his corrupt father scared us with leaks of mafia talk, union scandals and big business deals under the table the Kennedy family became a legend in the US.

His death brought tragedy to our nation; only to be followed by his brother’s death Robert, yet another great man who spoke even at greater lengths of one nation barring together as one to embrace each other and help each other become a stronger nation through unity, patriotism, faith and love for our nation as a whole.  His death also a tragedy but during their lives the country felt a closeness and had a reason to believe in our nation.  They gave us a reason to want to be a better US.

Is it wrong to want that “feeling” again in the US?  I personally don’t think so and say what you will, but if you close your eyes and listen to Barrack Obama, you might as well be listening to Robert Kennedy speaking to a crowd.  Yes, to some, he may be inexperienced in some areas, this is to be expected, he is a young Senator.  However what he lacks in experience he makes up for in desire, want and need to be the next President of the United States.

Can you imagine how he must feel to have been born as a young child to a single parent and also raised by his Grandmother and to think that some day he wants to be the US President (as all boys do), but then one day actually have this dream come true?  To feel that you have something to give to a Nation?  It comes out when he speaks to people, it shows when he is dealing with people in person and it appears in his personality during his speeches.

Some say just because he is literate and educated he “buffers” the big issues.  This simply isn’t true.  When he speaks he says what needs to be says and doesn’t drag on with unneeded words just to impress the nation.  What he doesn’t do is lower himself to the constant digging for trash, name calling, lowering himself to the childish, campaign tactics that take you away from the heart of what you want to hear from the candidate.

I personally think this nation could stand to get back to one nation, together, being united as one.  Wouldn’t it be nice if we could get back to the way Robert Kennedy used to think? “It is not enough to understand, or to see clearly. The future will be shaped in the arena of human activity, by those willing to commit their minds and their bodies to the task.”  or one of my favorite quotes of course, “Few will have the greatness to bend history itself; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total; of all those acts will be written the history of this generation.

You don’t have to vote for Obama, but if he does become our next President what you can do is give him a chance and back him as a nation.  This is what he deserves.  He is a good man.

Well again, of course they created this to MAKE him look fabulous, however if you listen to what they say, he is just a person that loves his country, believes in unity people and wants to make a better United States. Inexperience doesn’t have to be his downfall, it can actually work in his favor. He is a good person. Is that enough, no certainly not but does he have what it takes? I think so. Again, just my opinion and to each his own.

I didn’t say he wasn’t a good person and sincere (Obama). He is just a typical tax and spend liberal who presents himself very well. I don’t care for his very liberal tax and spend proposals, nor do I want a man learning on the job with foreign policy. The world is too dangerous for an inexperienced and completely naive man. Joe Biden himself said that Obama would be “tested” with a foreign policy crisis within six months. That doesn’t exactly give me a warm and fuzzy. I’d rather McCain deal with foreign policy. Remember, our constitution says that the role of the federal government is to “provide for the common defense, and promote the general welfare.” Note that it didn’t say to “provide the general welfare.” Our forefathers were smart enough to know that the federal government couldn’t and shouldn’t be relied on to provide common needs. It is to protect the republic, first and foremost.

And don’t count me in as an “admirer” of John F. Kennedy. First of all, his father, Joseph Kennedy, was a crook/bootlegger who made his fortune running the illegal booze trade in Boston. His associates included Al Capone and Sam Giancana, a couple of mob bosses. No sooner was Jack Kennedy “elected,” (actually, many believe that he lost the election and that the Cook county vote in Greater Chicago was rigged by the mob, giving him the state of Illinois and thus, the election over Nixon. Nixon himself knew this, but didn’t challenge the results for the good of the country), did he royally screw up in the Bay of Pigs fiasco, and then nearly get us in a nuclear war with the Soviet Union. His death was a tragedy, but it frankly immortalized him and negated his many mistakes, namely, the aforementioned ones and then committing troupes to Vietnam. He was a very average President with great rhetorical skills. Would have been interesting to see what he’d have done in his second term, after the “conflict” in Vietnam escalated. Funny, it was Johnson and Nixon who were blamed for that fiasco, and yet Kennedy got us into that mess.

I didn’t say Kennedy was a God, I too feel he was immortalized and yes his father was all of those things. I find it very interesting that he was placed in the position and the US fell in love with him. If you want to talk about Mafia, corruption and the Kennedy’s I’m your gal. I have read, studied and know all about them. I am more interested in what Robert would have done for the US and feel he was a more sincere, true, stand up guy that would have lived past his father’s underminding rules and bad ways. I find his death a true tragedy after reading and learning more about him. My point to my mom the other night was the Kennedy was totally inexperienced but he managed to do the job with assistance. Obama will make it if chosen. (thanks for ignoring my other questions by the way, nice).
I never suspected you to be an admirer of JFK, please that would be typical of you and I would never suspect you as typical in this political battle we have taken on to discuss.
Now the mafia, I have my good points with the Mafia and the black and white way they run their organization. I’m not all anti-Mafia so how does that mix with my communist ways Lovie? ha ha.
Anyway, we actually agreed on that last topic, I hope hell isn’t freezing over later this evening, I have things I need to get done.
