I come home tonight, open my door and then bolt of yellow fur dashes past me like lightening.

My freak of a yellow cat has escaped again.  Why I have no idea.  She wants to be free I guess, and I’m so very tired of it.  At first she runs over to my neighbors drive way (drunk neighbor) and as I start to chase her his over head, automatic light comes on.  All I can think is, “Great he is going to come out, drunk and yelling at me any minute.”  Don’t have to worry too long however, as she dashes back to my yard into the pitch darkness of night and into the trees and bushes.

The little monster runs straight to my other neighbors yard, past the shed and back behind the trees. At this point I totally can’t see her, all I can do is listen for the rustle of leaves and her meow.  Normally she darts back and forth but tonight she just keeps running and running until I can no longer hear her.  I keep yelling her name (Annie), but she won’t come back.  At this point I begin to get upset so I go back to the house to try and find a flashlight.

OK, I have a 3 year old in my house so all the flashlights that I find currently are dead to the world.  I try to gain my composure and I go back outside.  Back to the pitch dark woods and I begin to yell for Annie again, but at this point I’m beginning to cry (a little).  It is silent outside except for the wind until I hear leaves rustle.  She darts past me like a cheetah and runs into this big thicket of sticks in my back yard.

Then we start to play cat and mouse.  Just when I can almost grab her she moves further back.  Finally she makes her mistake and turns her tail toward me.  I yank her up, by her tail, the entire time she is meowing like a wild animal and I drag her through the thicket and into my arms.  I’m still crying for some reason and I drag her back to my house.

Here is the thing, as I dump her in the kitchen, she rolls over and begins to clean herself as if she just woke up from a nap.  My other cats are sniffing her and checking her out as if she has been on an African Safari.  Cats make me insane; this one especially.  We go through this “incident” and she acts as if it was no big deal.  I’m crying, sweating, panting, and yelling at her and she’s already at the water bowl getting a drink.

Anyone need a yellow cat?
