My sister made the statement about a year ago that when she turns 50, or by the time she turns 50 she wants to Karaoke in front of a live audience.
Now, being the awesome family that we are, we wanted to give her what she wanted. We have offered her many options. A birthday party where we bring in a Karaoke DJ and they set it all up (she said no), a trip to a local bar or pub and we can all just let loose on stage (she said no), we are taking a trip to Gatlinburg in September and we found a local Karaoke bar (she said no). We finally ask “What is the deal?”
She has came up with the silliest reasons like: People will see me doing it, I’m embarrassed, I can’t sing in front of family, strangers, certain people. For the love of Pete……………just DO IT! This is not exactly on my Bucket List of things to do, but if it would make my sister have a good time and we could have fun doing it together, heck yeah, I would get on stage and make a fool of myself with her and my nieces. Why not? We won’t know any of these people in TN so who cares. Would I do it locally? Probably not, but in TN who the heck cares?
We are still trying to convince her in TN why does it matter so hopefully we can get her to loosen up and have a little fun and jump up on that stage. The thing is she has a good voice and can actually sing so it’s not that big a deal. It’s all for fun anyway. If I can do it, I’m sure she can do it. I’ve realized lately it’s all about just doing things and not worrying about what anyone thinks, especially strangers. Aren’t there enough freaks out there anyway? ha ha.
Wish us luck, we have until September to build her up. I’m sure it will be some girlie, country crap, but I can sing that too!
