My sister made the statement about a year ago that when she turns 50, or by the time she turns 50 she wants to Karaoke in front of a live audience.

Now, being the awesome family that we are, we wanted to give her what she wanted.  We have offered her many options.  A birthday party where we bring in a Karaoke DJ and they set it all up (she said no), a trip to a local bar or pub and we can all just let loose on stage (she said no), we are taking a trip to Gatlinburg in September and we found a local Karaoke bar (she said no).  We finally ask “What is the deal?”

She has came up with the silliest reasons like:  People will see me doing it, I’m embarrassed, I can’t sing in front of family, strangers, certain people.  For the love of Pete……………just DO IT!  This is not exactly on my Bucket List of things to do, but if it would make my sister have a good time and we could have fun doing it together, heck yeah, I would get on stage and make a fool of myself with her and my nieces.  Why not?  We won’t know any of these people in TN so who cares.  Would I do it locally?  Probably not, but in TN who the heck cares?

We are still trying to convince her in TN why does it matter so hopefully we can get her to loosen up and have a little fun and jump up on that stage.  The thing is she has a good voice and can actually sing so it’s not that big a deal.  It’s all for fun anyway.  If I can do it, I’m sure she can do it.  I’ve realized lately it’s all about just doing things and not worrying about what anyone thinks, especially strangers.  Aren’t there enough freaks out there anyway?  ha ha.

Wish us luck, we have until September to build her up.  I’m sure it will be some girlie, country crap, but I can sing that too!

checking account

I try not to trash our customers too much, but lately they have just been too hateful not to vent some things.

We had a lady call in today and she had requested a withdrawal that didn’t get processed.  Although it was a miscommunication between a CSR and the client the amount of the withdrawal was $170.  She told the CSR that she had already wrote checks against this money because another CSR told her last week it would be in her checking account.  She was now going to have checks bouncing on this account.

By the way, I almost felt sorry for her, as if this was her last $170 but I checked her balance and she had $68,000+ in this account.  I’m not sure why she just needed this $170.  Anyway, my point……….who does this?  Who just takes the word of a person and writes checks against ANY amount of money off of their account with checking it first?  Who is that trusting when it comes to money?

I get paid on the 15th and the 30th and I get up on each of those days to make sure that money is in my account.  Why?  Things happen and I would never write checks against that account not knowing if those funds are in there.  You can’t today with bad check fees being $35+ at a bank.

This lady wants us to feel sorry for her and we can’t because this is not our issue, this is her issue.  Now, we may have made an error on the processing date and this can be considered a miscommunication as I stated earlier but if she wrote checks without checking, this is her idiotic mistake, not ours.

Again, who does this?  You would be surprised just how many people do this.  It slays me.  This is called writing bad checks and this means you are committing a crime!

steam roller This is my parking place to the left, up against the curb and this is the steam roller that took my parking place on Monday.

Now of course, as I stated, the only good news is that the Chevy Hag also couldn’t take my parking place, but then again, neither could I!

They have been re-paving our parking lot so I’m not sure how long this massive piece of equipment will be sharing our lot, but until then I certainly can’t go up against this can I?  What can I say, even the steam roller driver knows a good parking spot when he sees it!

Yes, it’s true.  My summer without men has been fabulous don’t get me wrong, but it’s time for me to walk down the aisle and get married!  Come as a shock to many of you?  Well don’t let it because it’s strictly for better insurance and a second income!

Yes, it’s true, I am looking to find the man of my dreams for insurance and income.  Anybody have any candidates?  I’m not that bad of a spouse and I offer many good qualities.  I have a deal in the works with Jerry right now, but if that falls through I may have to look else where.  I just decided that the love thing just isn’t going to work for me, so why not just make a business deal and a call it a life?  You bring to the table what you want and I’ll bring to the table what I want and we’ll see what we can work out.

Isn’t that what it’s all about anyway?  You make deals the entire time you’re married anyway so why not just pre-nup it up front and then you’re success rate should be higher.  This is my new thought process anyway.  Of course I’m kidding (for the most part), but if anyone knows anyone looking for a “deal” please send them my way.  We could at least chat about it!  ha ha

The Chevy Hag didn’t get my parking place today.  Do you know why?  Well I’ll tell you why because there is a steam roller in my parking place today.  Seriously.  Can you give me a break?  I had almost given up that I had lost my parking place to this Chevy Hag, but to have a steam roller take my parking place is just too much.

I pull into the parking lot this morning in the pouring down rain, it’s a Monday, I don’t want to be here anyway and I look (as I always do) ready to say choice words (as I always do) and there is a steam roller in my parking place.  As if he had no other place to park except in my spot???  The only good thing is that the Chevy Hag lost her spot too!  I did have a little laugh about that at least.

I wanted to ask if I could borrow it for a moment to steam roll over a certain vehicle but Jerry keeps telling me I have to be an adult about all of this!  Oh well……………..it’s Monday………….I’ll be good.

I offered to take Jacob out for his Birthday on Friday night and I made the mistake of letting him choose any restaurant.  Why, because we had talked about a few restaurants that I always say no to and I thought for sure he would pick one of these right.  Oh heck no, he had to drag our butts down to Bardstown Road, the least favorite place that I like to be, and take us to a place called Ramsi’s Cafe on the World.

First of all, it was a lovely, antique, type building and it was decorated very nice.  I will say that, but other than this, it sucked for me.  The menu was as if I was being punked.  First of all, if it says Vegan at the bottom, I probably shouldn’t be there right?

Here is a sample of the entrees:

Egyptian Kitchen:  ditalini, lentils, chic peas, toasted angel hair pasta, white rice, fried onions; served with zesty vinaigrette and harissa?  WTF?

Eggplant Parmesan:  Lightly breaded eggplant…..lets stop right there shall we?

Minted Lamb Chops, Thai Noodles, Prawn Picatta………….shall I go on?

I had Salsa and water while Jacob dined on his supper and I’ll be dang if my Salsa didn’t come to the table hot, as if it was chili or something.  Who the hell serves Salsa hot?

Jerry ordered the closest thing he could find to a hamburger and it was $9.50.  I was a small piece of hamburger and a loaf of bread.  I cracked up.  Needless to say we ate after we left on the way to the movies.

I can’t begrudge someone their choice of a Birthday meal, but I can make fun of a pretentious restaurant where people want to be seen eating there and don’t care that the food is just silly.  I was explained to that I just don’t fit in on Bardstown Road because it’s “artsy” and “eclectic” and I don’t live “outside the box”.  That is a bunch of crap.  I love art and I love to expand my horizons, but I don’t have to expand it eating things at a restaurants crammed in a room where there are too many tables, the people are loud to be seen and heard, and the prices are jacked up just because they can be because people are stupid enough to pay them.

Why isn’t it OK to be plain and simple and by the way, I’m actually not plain and simple.  If you look at this menu it’s truly over the top.  It’s not even “of the norm”.  I go to restaurants that are “outside of the box”, this was “ON THE WORLD”  ha ha.

Tubing Well we had a gorgeous day at Patoka Lake and we never had a hint of rain.  Once we had the boat in the water, it was all smooth sailing for the day.

We did the norm, drove out a little, parked for a while, swam and then had some lunch.  Then someone said, “lets go tubing, lets take the kids tubing.”  Well of course Noah wanted to go so he wanted me to take him.

Now, I have a hard time telling this kid no so we hook up this inner tube and gave it a whirl.  We sat in it to be safe and the boat took off.  He did better than I thought actually and he didn’t cry or say stop.  The other little girl who was older only lasted about 3 seconds and cried so we felt proud.  Although he wouldn’t let us go at top speed he did tube!  That is what counts.

Then my nephew went next and my brother-in-law did all he could take to knock his butt off the thing but Ben held on and never fell off.  I decided to try it next and I can proudly say I didn’t fall off.  Although they were nicer to me, I did hold on and I even went from side-to-side.  I place this picture out here to prove my tubing abilities.  I had tubed a long time ago, but more of the sitting version and not this rugged, laying down version.  I have to say I held my own and I was proud!

All in all, our three hour tour was more of a 5-6 hour day.  We all got sun, we had good food and good times and it was a great day!

mamma

Jerry and I went to see this movie Friday night and it was AWESOME.  Now, let me just point out that it’s a total musical and I love musicals.

I’m a huge fan of Singing in the Rain, Grease, and so many more and it’s just right up there with the great one’s!

Meryl Streep is so talented and the woman can sing.  I’m never amazed at her limitless talent.  Even Pierce Brosnan can almost hold a tune and finally a movie that he can be in and actually play the part.  James Bond 007 - No.  Girlie part that he can sing and chase a girl - Yes!  He did a great job in this movie and in the end I was actually pulling for him to win the girl.

It’s just a great movie and I’m a huge romantic so I caught myself not only laughing throughout the movie, but smiling and I even almost cried a couple of times.  It’s just a great, feel good kind of movie.

I already told my mom and sisters if they go see it to let me know because I want to go see it again.  I’m not even a big fan of ABBA, but the music was totally great, and they put it into this film beautifully.

The young actress, Amanda Seyfried has a gorgeous voice and was lovely to listen to throughout the movie.  All the guys actually did great too.  Christine Baranski and Julie Walters play the girl friends of Meryl Streep and they will crack you up.  They are hilarious.

It’s totally a musical, but it you are into music and into ABBA, you should see this film.

A+ and 5 Stars *****

GREAT FILM!!!

Court Battle over twins

If you read this article and you aren’t completely angered then I will be surprised.  What a joke.  How selfish of a person must you be that you are given the miracle of life and instead of feeling blessed by that miracle of God and thankful to the science of your Doctor what do you do?  You sue them because that miracle was doubled and you received twins.

Oh my gosh, these two women should have had these twins taken away from them and they should be given to a real family.  A family that understands what the miracle of birth truly means.  Then they have the nerve to say, “It was never about the kids”, please you stated it put a strain on your “relationship”, give me a freaking break.  Get over it you selfish, loser, pathetic, sad, waste of a parent wannabe’s.

Childbirth is a miracle and if you are blessed with two, that is even more of a blessing.  These two women make me sick for attempting to sue a Doctor for compensation for this “mistake”.  That word just makes me sick.
